Email Marketing 2016: Questions and answers

Following the July 2016 webinar on email marketing trends in 2016 we received a lot of interesting questions. We wanted to share the answers with you here. Find the presentation corresponding to this webinar here.

Why isn't the number of business mailboxes increasing year on year?

Sophie B
The question refers to the graph showing the number of active mailboxes since 2013. In reality, it too is increasing, but at a much slower rate than personal accounts. The number of personal mailboxes being created is being driven by online services (such as banking, insurance and e-commerce sites) which require a valid email address in order to create an account on their platform.

Are autoresponders available in all emailing tools?

Sophie B
It's still a fairly rare feature. Follow the link below to find out which solutions have autoresponder functionality,

What do you think of MailChimp?

Maëlle B
MailChimp is very user-friendly. The free version is also sufficient for a small contact base. However, MailChimp is not in French and its functions are limited. MailChimp lacks autoresponders, forms and landing pages. Finally, the dashboards are basic.

Are all the emailing tools offered by appvizer in French?

Sophie B
No, but you can easily filter the software with a French interface on appvizer. Follow this link to see the emailing tools available in French.

What do you think of MailJet?

Jessica B
Mailjet is the cheapest tool on the market and that's its main advantage. It has a good responsive email editor and customisation of the sending domain is free. On the other hand, its support is mediocre and its features limited.

Does any of this software have a better deliverability rate than the others?

Fanny P
Email deliverability is mainly due to the quality of your emails rather than the tool itself. However, their "technical deliverability" is relatively similar. To maximise your deliverability, it's important that your entire list is opt-in (voluntary subscription to the mailing list) and that your emails are relevant, interesting and sent at a regular rate.

Do you have any advice on how to optimise the price/quality ratio?

Entire question from Henri A: The major difficulty in emailing programmes is the quality of the emails. Do you have any advice on how to optimise the price/quality ratio?
Building your list yourself through content marketing (giving away content in exchange for an email) is the most effective way. It takes time but it's the most effective option for zero cost (if you design/aggregate the content yourself).

What would you recommend in favour of a French company?

Françoise L
Sarbacane, ActiveTrail, Wewmanager and MessageBusiness are French. Other French solutions are available here.

Is it easy to interface the 4 publishers you've mentioned with a CRM?

Sarah B
Message Business is excellent for this. So is Wewmanager.

Do they all offer domain authentication?

Claire T
Yes, sometimes at an extra cost.

If you just want to do general communication, should you use autoresponders?

Sophie B
No, Sarbacane is quite sufficient in this case.

Is domain authentication available at extra cost or not?

Claire T
Most of the time you need to allow for an additional cost, except with Mailjet.

For prospecting scenarios, should I use a sender such as marketing@xxx.com or one with a salesperson's address?

Loic R
I suggest, in the case of BtoB commercial prospecting, a personalised email with the address of a real person. The conversions are much higher.

Software soon to be listed on appvizer for which we don't yet have an opinion to share: Splio, Smartfocus, Mailkitchen, Net'Helium, Ediware.
